We’re Proud Of You, Gov Okowa Tells Lion’s Clubs, D404A1
The Delta State Governor Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has lauded the District Governor, International Association of Lion’s Clubs D404A1 Lion Fortune Wagbatsoma for her commitment in building an Eye Clinic at the Central Hospital, Warri.
Speaking Yesterday Wednesday 22/6/22, Gov Okowa said as a government, we are proud of the International Association of Lion’s Clubs, District 404A1, Nigeria for building this eye clinic with a state-of-the-art facilities, adding that the equipments no doubt will be very Useful to the central hospital, Warri.
Gov Okowa who was ably represented by the Delta State Commissioner for Health Dr. Mordi Ononye commended the state-of-the-art facilities and urged all other Organisations to emulate this good gesture by the International Association of Lion’s Clubs District 404A1, Nigeria.
“Within seven months, you completed this edifice, as a District Governor, D404A1 you have shown that Organisations can rise to solve societal needs, your collaboration with the warri central hospital in achieving this speaks alot of who you are, as a government we are indeed very grateful” Dr Mordi added.
Earlier, the District Governor, International Association of Lion’s Clubs District 404A1 Lion Fortune Wagbatsoma appreciated all and sundry for their contributions towards the success of this project. She said the Lions Clubs International is committed in standing in the gap for the government because the government cannot do it all alone.
She said the facility is a culmination of a decade long relationship between the Lions club and the management of the central hospital, Warri. We have collaborated and sponsored uncountable free eye surgeries and supported the eye clinic with donations of various equipments.
According to DG Wagbatsoma, the new facility sits on two floors and consists of consulting rooms, operating theatres, treatment rooms, patient and staff lounge among other spaces. It is equipped with state-of-the-art eye diagnostics, surgery and treatment machines. The project also provides for the training of the existing personnel. The end result of this gift, will be hitch free eye care for the people of Warri and its environs, within a conducive and friendly environment.
Furthermore, the Project Chairperson Dr. Lion Louis Esenwa who spoke at the event noted that today we have delivered the first and most extensive part of Project in record time adding that the Lion’s Clubs International is not known in abandoning of Project but always deliver as promise and on time.
He revealed that the ground breaking ceremony of this project took place in this very spot in November, 2021, with a promise to deliver this project in record time. The project is in three parts, namely the construction of the eye clinic building and its equipment with state-of-the-art facilities, training/updating of the clinic professional staff and conduction of outreaches over a period of three years. Today, we are witnessing the delivery of the project for the betterment of humanity.
Others who spoke at the event were the Chief Medical Director, Central Hospital, Warri, Dr. Omu Patrick, the HOD Ophthalmology of the Hospital, Dr. Faith Ejegi expressed gratitude for the quick completion of this project as they lauded the District Governor Lion Fortune Wagbatsoma and Lion’s Clubs in general for their tireless efforts in adding values to the lives of humanity.
The First Vice District Governor/ District Governor Elect D404A1 Lion Ano Anyanwu in a vote of thanks commended the District Governor Lion Fortune Wagbatsoma for making us Proud, he called on all who are not Members of the International Association of Lion’s Clubs to come and join in other to render more services that will better the lives of humanity and the society at large adding that the harvest is ripe but the labourers are few.
Highpoint of the Commissioning of the laudable medical edifice was a free Eye Screening test.
