Delta Youth Ministry Opens Applications for Second Assembly of Youth Parliament

The Delta State Ministry of Youth Development has announced the commencement of applications from suitably qualified young Deltans for participation in the Second Assembly of the Delta State Youth Parliament.
The initiative is aimed at providing young people in the state with a platform to develop their leadership capacity, deepen their understanding of democratic governance, promote active civic participation and contribute meaningfully to policy discussions on issues affecting youths and the overall development of Delta State.
According to the Ministry, the Youth Parliament is designed to expose participants to the principles and practices of legislative proceedings, responsible representation, constructive dialogue and democratic engagement, while preparing them for greater leadership responsibilities.
To qualify, applicants must be Nigerian citizens of Delta State origin and between 18 and 30 years of age. They must also possess a minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent, must not have been convicted of any criminal offence, and must not belong to any secret cult or cult group.
The application exercise will commence on Monday, September 7, 2026, and close on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Interested applicants are required to submit their applications via ministryofyouthdevelopmentasab@gmail.com, clearly stating their full names, contact details, educational qualifications and other relevant information required for consideration.
The Ministry further announced that screening and interviews for shortlisted applicants will take place on Thursday, September 24, and Friday, September 25, 2026. The venue will be communicated to shortlisted applicants through email and/or text messages.
Applicants invited for the screening and interview are expected to come along with the originals and photocopies of their credentials.
The names of successful applicants are scheduled to be published on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The Ministry of Youth Development urged eligible young Deltans to take advantage of the opportunity and submit their applications within the stipulated period, describing the Youth Parliament as an avenue for nurturing young leaders and encouraging meaningful youth participation in governance.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to creating platforms that promote youth leadership development, civic responsibility, inclusive governance and constructive participation in the democratic process.
