The member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Pst. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has joined the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for the inauguration of the Model Technical College, Oghara, in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The inauguration, which took place on Friday, October 9, 2026, marked another milestone in the state government’s efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education and expand opportunities for young people to acquire practical skills.

The Model Technical College is among the technical colleges initiated by the previous administration across Delta State and subsequently completed by the Oborevwori-led administration.

The institution is designed to provide students with technical knowledge, hands-on training and employable skills to prepare them for the demands of the modern workforce, entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities in various industries.

The establishment of functional technical education facilities is expected to contribute to skills development, innovation and human capital growth, while helping to bridge the gap between formal education and the practical competencies required in the labour market.

The inauguration attracted several prominent political leaders and government functionaries, including former Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Chief James Onanefe Ibori; Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Solomon Arenyeka; Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone; and Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Others present were Hon. Bernard Odior, member representing Isoko North State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly; Chief Kome Okpobor, Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC); and other distinguished guests.

Rep. Ukodhiko’s presence at the event highlighted the participation of federal lawmakers and other stakeholders in initiatives aimed at promoting education, skills acquisition and sustainable development across Delta State.

The Model Technical College, Oghara, is expected to serve as an important centre for technical and vocational learning, equipping young people with relevant skills to improve their employability and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economic development.
