2026 Siegbien Festival: Asiuwhu Canvasses Backing for Tinubu, Oborevwori’s Re-election
The Chairman of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu, on Monday, April 13, 2026, canvassed support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sheriff Oborevwori in 2027, as he paid a royal homage to HRM Barr. P. S. Erebulu, Aduo III during the 2026 Siegbein Festival celebration.
Asiuwhu, who also serves as the Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors for Patani Local Government Area, led members of his political network and associates to the ancestral royal palace in Patani, where the revered monarch presides over the ancient Kabowei Kingdom spanning Delta and Bayelsa States.
The visit attracted key members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (Patani LGA Chapter), community leaders, chiefs, APC party officials, and supporters, creating a vibrant atmosphere of cultural celebration and political engagement.
On arrival, the delegation was warmly received by the monarch and members of his Traditional Council of Chiefs. In line with the customs and traditions of the Kabowei people, kola nuts, drinks, and other items were presented as a mark of hospitality.
Speaking during the visit, Asiuwhu expressed deep appreciation to the royal father for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage. He noted that his visit was driven by his longstanding relationship with the monarch and his commitment to promoting cultural heritage as a tool for nation-building.
“I am particularly endeared to His Majesty for his wisdom, compassion, courage, and his role in promoting peace, unity, conflict resolution, and security within his domain,” he said.
He further commended the monarch for sustaining the Siegbein Festival, describing it as a vital platform for preserving cultural heritage, fostering unity, and promoting social cohesion among the people.
While addressing political issues, Asiuwhu highlighted key achievements of the Tinubu-led administration, including increased national revenue, infrastructural development, improved salary payments, and progress across critical sectors of the economy. He urged traditional institutions to rally support for the President’s re-election in 2027 to sustain the current developmental trajectory.
In the same vein, he lauded Governor Oborevwori’s “MORE Agenda,” stating that the administration’s developmental strides across Delta State are visible and impactful. He called on Deltans to support the governor’s second-term bid to consolidate ongoing progress.
On local political concerns, Asiuwhu raised the issue of perceived marginalisation of Patani Local Government Area in the Patani/Bomadi Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, noting that Bomadi LGA has occupied the position since 1999. He appealed to the monarch to use his influence to advocate for fairness and equity, urging stakeholders in Patani to unite behind a common aspirant.
In his response, HRM Erebulu described Asiuwhu as a trusted friend and “a son of Kabowei Kingdom by association,” despite not being an indigene by birth. He commended his integrity, loyalty, and consistent support for the kingdom.
The monarch acknowledged the political concerns raised and assured that they had been duly noted. He concluded by offering prayers for Asiuwhu and his entourage, wishing them success in their endeavours.
