Waive @ 60: Oyibode Commends Waive Over FMC Ovwian, Onyeme Seeks Support For Oborevwori.
The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, FCIA, has commended the member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Francis Ejiroghene Waive, for what he described as effective representation and impactful leadership.
The Udu Council boss, Oyibode gave the commendation today Sunday,24/05/26, during the 60th birthday thanksgiving service of the federal lawmaker held at Moment of the Anointing Bible Church.
According to the Udu Council Chairman, Waive’s role in sponsoring and facilitating the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ovwian, has brought significant development to the area, noting that more than 1,000 persons have reportedly gained employment through the institution.
He further declared that the people of Udu would massively support the APC in the 2027 general elections, stressing that opposition politics had not yielded meaningful benefits to the area since 1999.
“Come 2027, Udu people will vote massively for the APC and not continue to play opposition because opposition has not benefited Udu since 1999 till date,” Oyibode stated.
The representive of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at the event, the Deputy Governor of Delta State,Sir, Monday Onyeme, congratulated Waive on his 60th birthday, describing him as a committed servant of God and dedicated public servant.
Onyeme noted that despite Waive’s transition from ministry into politics, he had remained steadfast in his Christian faith. You became a fisher of men, a preacher, a reverend and today, a politician. Yet through it all, God has remained number one in your life. To Him alone be all the glory,” Onyeme said.
He urged the celebrant to remain devoted to God and continue winning souls for Christ, expressing confidence that greater opportunities still lie ahead for the federal lawmaker.
The Deputy Governor also praised Waive’s contributions in the National Assembly, expressing optimism that his third tenure would surpass previous achievements and attract more democratic dividends to the constituency.
Speaking further, Onyeme appealed to Deltans to continue supporting the administration of Governor Oborevwori insisting that the governor means well for all ethnic nationalities in the state.
Reflecting on the 2023 governorship election, Onyeme recalled that many critics had doubted the ability of the Oborevwori administration to succeed.
“Three years down the line, the story has changed. Communities that had never felt the impact of government since 1999 are now experiencing development,” he said.
He pointed to ongoing infrastructural projects across Warri and other parts of the state, including flyovers, bridges, internal roads and streetlights, assuring residents that the projects would be completed before the next inauguration cycle.
Earlier in his sermon, guest preacher Kingsley Enakirerhi charged Christians and political leaders to place their trust in Jesus Christ rather than material wealth and worldly accomplishments.
The cleric emphasized the transient nature of life and riches, repeatedly declaring that “vanity is vanity,” while stressing that no political position, wealth or earthly influence can compare with salvation in Christ.
“Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Jesus is enough and Jesus never fails,” he declared.
Bishop Enakirerhi also warned against excessive pursuit of material wealth at the expense of spiritual growth and family values, advising parents to remain mindful of their responsibilities while pursuing opportunities abroad for their children.
In his remarks, an elated Waive expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life to witness his 60th birthday celebration.
“I cannot thank God enough. First, I thank Him for the salvation of my soul. If I didn’t know Jesus as Lord and Saviour, I am very sure I wouldn’t be alive today,” he said.
The lawmaker recounted surviving a difficult birth in 1966 through a Caesarean Section and overcoming childhood health challenges after encountering Christ at age 11.
Waive also reflected on his humble beginnings, his early struggles with tenancy, and his political journey, recalling how people once laughed at his ambition to contest for student union president.
The thanksgiving service attracted top government officials, political associates, clergymen, friends, family members and well-wishers from within and outside Delta State.
