Ughelli South PDP Leaders To Inaugurate Campaign Council, Hold Strategic Meeting

Leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State have held a strategic meeting to plan towards the forthcoming ward-to-ward campaign by the Delta State PDP Campaign Council in the area.

The leaders and stakeholders who made this known during the strategic meeting, held at the Olorogun John Oguma’s country home in Ovwor-Olomu, also agreed to inaugurate the Local Government Area Campaign Council on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the party secretariat, Otu-Jeremi by 12pm.

The leaders and stakeholders meeting was attended by Engr. Festus Utuama, PDP Delta State House of Assembly Candidate, Ughelli South Constituency, selected leaders, political appointees, serving councilors, the council chairman, Olorogun Dr. Richard Kofi; the party chairman in the area, Hon. Michael Oshetigho; Campaign Committee Coordinator, Hon. Paul Etaga and other members.

Speaking during the meeting, political leader of the party in the area, Olorogun John Oguma, commended the leaders and stakeholders for the massive turnout, saying that it was a confirmation that the PDP was one and stronger in the local government area.

He however advised whoever any aggrieved members as a result of the last primary elections of the party to purge themselves of such grieviances and work for the victory of all the party candidates.

He admonished leaders and stakeholders present to note the danger of working against any candidate of the party, saying that the candidates were not on their own, but for the party and the purpose of elections.

According to him, “that is the reason the ballot paper does not include faces of candidates but logos of political parties. So when you work against any candidate, you work against yourself.”

He noted that when the PDP in Edo state lost the governorship seat to the opposition party because of internal wrangling, they regretted and suffered for their actions.

He advised the leaders and stakeholders to continue to talk to the electorate to vote Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for President and Vice President respectively; Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and Sir. Monday Onyeme for Governor and Deputy Governor respectively; Chief Senator Ighoyota Amori for Senate; , House of Representives Candidate of the party and Engr. Festus Utuama for Delta State House of Assembly, Ughelli South Constituency.

Other leaders of the party, Chief Akpokiboro Patrick Fovie, PDP Chairman, Delta Central and Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo also urged party stakeholders present to work for alll candidates of the party.

They also warned against working against any candidate of the party. “Primaries have come and gone, it’s now time to purge ourselves of all grieviances and work for the victory of all candidates of the party,” they said.

Candidate of the party for Delta State House of Assembly election in the Local Government, Engr. Festus Utuama in his remarks, thanked the leaders and stakeholders for their continuous support for all candidates of the party.

He appealed to the leaders and stakeholders, on behalf of other candidates of the party, to keep the flag flying as voting for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as President and Vice President respectively, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori and Sir. Monday Onyeme as Governor and Deputy Governor respectively, Chief Senator Ighoyota Amori for Senate, candidate for House of Representatives and himself in 2023 would attract massive development to the local government area.
