GKS President Preaches Peace, Repentance

By ODEYA OGBETUO

The President of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), Brother Felix Ekundayo Adedokun, has called on different races of the world to repent from sin and wickedness and promote peace, unity and love as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

Adedokun who made this call during the Church 2026 Freedom Day Divine Service in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ held at Salem City, GKS Headquarters, Warri, Delta State, further said that the world is plagued by crisis, disobedience, religiosity, wickedness, cultism, corruption and wars which are contrary to the teachings of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

He clearly stated that true Christians or genuine followers of Jesus Christ are peace ambassadors who are committed to the teachings and propagation of the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.

According to him “A true disciple of Christ is one who follows, abides by or endeavours to keep all Jesus Christ taught in precept and practice. True discipleship is measured by good deeds arising from the spirit of Christ on one hand.”

Adedokun stated that our Lord Jesus Christ is an epitome of virtues as well as a man of flawless character and a teacher par excellence, adding that the entire life of Jesus Christ on earth was marked by modesty, simplicity and total submission to the will of God, a life we should emulate and practice.

In his sermon titled “Are We Disciples of Christ Indeed?” Adedokun noted that many people in various parts of the world today claim to be Christians, but they don’t actually practice the true teachings of Jesus Christ.

He pointed out that many profess to be Christians and appear to be the followers of Christ outwardly, yet are not His genuine disciples.

“The World Population by Religion: A Global Tapestry of Faith by Pam Wasserman published on January 12, 2024, it is estimated that Christianity have followership of 1.4 billon which is about one fifth of eight (8) billion people in the world. If only this great number of people who profess the Christian faith are truly his disciples in word and deed, the world would have been a better place”, he added.

The GKS President enumerated and mentioned the spiritual benefits of some of these qualities Jesus Christ taught and practicalized as obedience, love, humility, faith, non-compromise, forgiveness and urged Christians in particular to endeavour to demonstrate these qualities in practical terms as disciples of Jesus Christ indeed.

“In the GKS we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and not his death. Jesus did not command us to be taking Holy Communion every day. What he did at the last supper was symbolic and should not be a daily activity, rather, it was a memorial for sober reflection.”

In his sermon entitled: Was Christ Born on Christmas Day? A service meant to mark the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ was taken by Brother Andrew Ekireghwo, a minister of the Church who gave detail historical account of the birth of Jesus in the month of October.

Ekireghwo who quoted several bible passages emphasized that the Bible chronology, climatic and historical facts emphatically and unequivocally show that Jesus Christ was born in the month of October.

The GKS stand out as the most vociferous Christian organization that preaches and lays emphasis that Jesus Christ was born in October instead of December 25th as believed and acclaimed by the majority of other Christian denominations.
