Onyeme Lauds Gov Okowa’s Visionary Leadership

The Executive Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Service Sir Monday John Onyeme has lauded the Delta Governor Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his visionary leadership and Political will that has added fillip to an Improved Internally generated revenue of the state.

He said Gov Okowa’s contribution and support towards the growth of the board leading to an Improved Internally generated revenue of the state deserves to be commended.

Speaking recently during a board meeting of members of the board, Delta State Internal Revenue Service, the Chairman, Sir Monday ONYEME noted that the revenue service under his leadership is exploring areas that are been largely untapped such as online betting, stamp duties, capital gains tax etc through engagement with expertise in those areas for an Improved revenue generation.

While maintaining that the service has also continued it’s review of activities and processes in the areas of Personal Income Tax in the self employed sector by intensifying the process of data gathering and profiling of newly identified tax agents for the purpose of bringing them into the tax net.

He frowned at the negligence of some head of stations and staff who show less or no concern on the needs to Improve the Internally generated revenue in the areas of self employed, he called for the October reports adding that the two least poorly performed Head of Stations may excused their position.

He expressed confidence that the Service will surpass the 2021 fiscal year revenue target adding that the Whistle blowing Mechanism, the recently Inaugurated Joint Tax Force to check revenue leakages from non renewal of expired vehicle particulars and drivers license has yielded good results when compared.
