Delta 2027: ADC Unveils Great Ogboru’s Roadmap for Economic Renewal and Good Governance

As political activities ahead of the 2027 Delta State governorship election gather momentum, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has presented what it describes as “The Great Ogboru Solution,” a policy blueprint aimed at repositioning the state through economic transformation, transparent governance, and inclusive development.

According to the party’s PublicitySecretary, Mr. Fred Akpewe, said the 2027 election should focus less on personalities and political rhetoric and more on the kind of leadership needed to unlock Delta State’s enormous potential.

He said the governorship aspiration of its candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, offers what it considers a practical roadmap for renewing the state through purposeful leadership, economic reforms, and people-centred governance.

The party noted that although Delta State is richly endowed with oil and gas resources, fertile agricultural land, strategic waterways, and a vibrant entrepreneurial population, many residents continue to face unemployment, poverty, and limited economic opportunities.

According to the party’s spokesman, an Ogboru administration would prioritise expanding the productive economy by promoting industrialisation, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, attracting private-sector investment, and creating a business-friendly environment capable of generating sustainable jobs and wealth.

On infrastructure, the party maintained that development should go beyond the construction of roads and bridges. It argued that investments in transportation, electricity, water supply, and digital infrastructure should be strategically designed to stimulate commerce, agriculture, tourism, and industrial growth across the state’s three senatorial districts.

The ADC also identified agriculture as a critical driver of economic diversification. It said mechanised farming, agro-processing, improved access to finance, and modern agricultural value chains would increase food production, create employment, and boost export earnings.

The party further stressed the importance of youth development, describing young people as Delta State’s greatest asset. It said greater investment in vocational education, digital skills, entrepreneurship, innovation, and partnerships with the private sector would better prepare the state’s youth for emerging economic opportunities.

On governance, the ADC pledged to promote transparency, fiscal discipline, accountability, and greater public participation in government, saying these principles are essential to restoring public confidence in state institutions.

The party also emphasised the need for improved security, stating that stronger collaboration with security agencies, support for lawful community-based security initiatives, and efforts to address the root causes of crime would help create a safer environment for residents and investors.

The ADC added that inclusive governance would remain one of the pillars of an Ogboru administration, ensuring that every ethnic nationality, community, religious group, and social class has a sense of belonging in the governance of the state.

The party described the 2027 governorship election as an opportunity for Deltans to evaluate competing visions for the state’s future.
According to the ADC, “The Great Ogboru Solution” represents a vision of a Delta State with a productive economy, modern infrastructure, transparent institutions, expanded opportunities for young people, and inclusive leadership that delivers tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.

The party maintained that it would continue to present its policy proposals to the electorate ahead of the election, while noting that the decision on the state’s future ultimately rests with the people of Delta State at the ballot box.
