By Gabriel Choba
Housewife resident in Effurun, Uvwie local government area of Delta state, Mrs. Anthonia Uwazie, has petitioned the Delta state Commissioner of Police and the Inspector General of Police, alleging her Nigerian-US citizen’s husband, Mr. Ignatius Uwazie and son, Mr. Obinna Uwazie of assault and beating her to coma.
Mrs Anthonia Uwazie said she was being tortured and manhandled by her husband and son for refusing to drop the key to her vehicle she bought with her money and also demanding for their village house keys in her possession in Imo state.
Narrating her ordeal to newsmen on what she went through in the hands of her husband, Mr. Ignatius Uwazie and son, Mr. Obinna Uwazie, whom are both citizens of the United States of America, Mrs Uwazie said, “I have been in the marriage for the past forty years with four children by the grace of God.
“On Monday 5th Dec, 2022, following a family dispute, her son and husband, Mr. Obinna Uwazie and Mr Ignatius Uwazie in company of one Mrs. Bella Peres visited my house at Jakpa road near drivers Licencing office, Effrun, Delta state where she was assaulted and beating to a state of coma.
Mrs. Uwazie said her husband and her son who came back from United State of America, USA, got inside her house with the pretense to make peace but they rather they battered her and threatened to kill her but escape through the help of her neighbours in the compound.
Speaking further, Mrs Uwazie, “On the 5th of Dec, 2022, Mrs Amthonia our along with her husband and son were invited to the Area Commander Warri office on allegation by the husband that her car belongs to him, Mr. Ignatius Uwazie.
“All particulars of the vehicle and the registration where all in my name but upon the intervention of the 2 I/C of the area command, both parties were asked to go home and discuss as a family and report back to him.
“I objected to my husband and my son coming to stay at my house because l was not too sure of my safety, but l was assured in the presence in the police in the matter, but surprisingly my husband and my son walked into my house, beat me and injured me so badly but it took the intervention of our neighbours who called my daughter that came to rescue me.
“I was locked in the apartment after beating me, they left me naked and left until my daughter came with her own spare key and rescued me. I have reported the matter at Ekpan police station, where l was asked by the police to go for treatment at Ekpan General Hospital.
“Myself and my daughter are very apprehensive over the words altered by my husband that my marriage with him is over, that he was mo longer interested in the marriage as he will kill me to get his way.
“Since they have both been invited to the Area Commander Warri and Ekpan Divisional Police none of them have arrested, hence am calling on the Delta state Commissioner of Police, Inspector General of Police and other security agents to use their good office to save me my life and that of my daughters.”
