DPD Marks Independence With Warri Peace Drive, Calls For Oneness In Delta
As Nigeria celebrates her 65th Independence Anniversary today, Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, the Deltans for Peace and Development (DPD), a non-profit voluntary organization, staged a peace campaign in the oil city of Warri, Delta State.
Led by the founder, Agbajoh Hope, alongside Barrister Ubini Harriet, Ojor Vincent, Oghenerume Godstime, and Abilo Peremobo-ere, the group took to the streets, walking through Airport Junction, Angle Park, and down to Enerhen Junction, preaching peace and unity among the people.
Their message was centered on the need for the Urhobos, Itsekiris, and Ijaws to live together as one family in Warri, setting aside ethnic rivalries for the sake of development, harmony, and lasting peace.
According to the Founder, Agbajoh Hope: “We are not doing it on our own. We want everybody in Delta State, we want the communities, the youths everybody to support and join us in this pursuit of peaceful coexistence because without peace development cannot thrive.
The group noted that their mission is rooted in the belief that true peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, mutual respect, and understanding. The DPD is committed to bridging divides, nurturing love across communities, and fostering sustainable unity among Delta’s diverse ethnic groups.
Residents and passersby commended the team for their tireless efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence in Warri and its environs, noting that their advocacy is timely and in line with the spirit of Nigeria’s Independence celebration.
