Delta PDP Guber Candidate, Oborevwori Calls For Total Reconciliation Among Party Members

The Delta PDP Gubernatorial Candidate for 2023 general elections, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has called for a total reconciliation among members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, enjoining them to close ranks and work for the victory of the Party’s candidates in the 2023 general elections.

The PDP Gubernatorial Candidate who is also the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, stated this while playing host to some PDP elders, leaders and top political office holders from Isoko ethnic nationalities who visited him in his office at the State Assembly complex, Asaba, saying that the time for total reconciliation of members of the party across the state was now and appealed to any aggrieved member of the PDP to embrace peace as the Party needs a united front to face challenges ahead.

He noted that it requires the collective efforts of every PDP members to win the forthcoming elections, saying that internal crisis in the Party has done enough harm and must not be allowed to continue.

He described the last weekend’s Supreme Court verdict as victory for all PDP members in the State as there was no victor, nor vanquished, disclosing that he had reached out to Olorogun David Edevbie on the need to join forces with him to move the Party forward.

Rt Hon Oborevwori commended the Isoko nation for being strong allies in his governorship project, promising to run an all-inclusive government if elected as Governor of Delta State next year.

The Speaker also enjoined the PDP elders, leaders and supporters in Isoko nation to embrace peace, unity and love for one another and form a formidable force to achieve victories for the PDP from State Assembly elections to the Presidency.

“On behalf of my family, political associates, I appreciate this show of love from the bottom of my heart. From the beginning you people have shown me love. In this project, Isoko is a stakeholder. You people in Isoko nation followed me round the 25 local government areas when I was consulting, Godbless you all for your acceptance and support. There is no way I can forget Isoko Nation and I wish to thank all of you sincerely for this visit today”, he stated.

The PDP Governorship Candidate who is also the National Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of state legislatures of Nigeria said that; “We have won the primaries and all court cases. But It is not over yet; we need everybody collectively to work together as a team. I am pleading with you people in Isoko Nation, it is five over five. I am appealing for Isoko Nation to set up a team of respected leaders to bring back our aggrieved members to the fold because there is a lot of divisions there, we should work together because we are one PDP; it is internal crisis and I know that in my MORE Agenda ‘inclusiveness’ is one of my priority. It is now we need to lay the foundation of inclusiveness and by the time we take over in 2023, everybody will have a sense of belonging”.

“This is a PDP state, we have worked very hard but collectively we will do MORE come 2023. So, my appeal is total reconciliation, please we want peace, we want unity in Isoko Nation because this is the only way we can get victory, let us be united, we should come together and speak with one voice in Isoko Nation so that we can get victory at the end of the day. This visit is a good one, it’s divine. God made it possible for you people to be here today to congratulate me”, he added.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Chief Iduh Amahde, said they were in the Speaker’s office to congratulate him on the Supreme Court victory and to join others in celebrating God’s grace upon PDP and the people of Delta state.

While urging the PDP Gubernatorial flag bearer to remain resolute, focused and to continue with the good work, Chief Amahde expressed the hope for much bigger celebration with him in the nearest future.

He assured him of total support of Isoko nation in his governorship project.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a handmade card that contains congratulatory message and prayers to the Speaker.

The presentation was made by Chief Iduh Amahde, supported by the Majority Leader of the Delta State Assembly, Ferguson Onwo and a former member of the House, Orezi Esievo.
