ASIUWHU WITH THE TASK OF A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT.
On the 7th of July 2022, Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP, came on board as the Honourable Commissioner of Environment, Delta State.
As a man on a mission, who knows his tasks & targets within the projected time frame, quickly set the ball rolling in line to deliver on the onions of His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the governor of Delta State, for a cleaner environment through the ministry of Environment before 28th of May 2023.
In accordance,he engaged all relevant /critical stakeholders, departments & committees into a formidable & harmonious workforce in order to achieve on the said mandate.
Simultaneously, he moved to create & inculcate into Deltans the
consciousness, importance and values of the plans and purpose of the state government for cleaner environment as it relates to a healthy living, by the means of rigorous sensitization through campaigns on prints & social media, and Radio & Televisions stations and, local & Street to streets methods.
To guarantee successful workable plans & goals, A 7 man Committee On ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION, PREVENTION AND CONTROL was set up.
Also, He formed a collaboration with Local Government Departments of Environment Staffs.
Chief Asiuwhu, paid a working /on spot assessment to Oil tank farms companies involved in explosions in the state , and in his vision to forestall the re-occurance of tank farms explosion and its adverse effects on the health of Deltans, he Organized A One Day Sensitization And Awareness Workshop for Health Safety And Environment Officers of Companies Operating in the State.
The activities of PSP handlers in the state was overhauled to ensure prompt disposal of refuse waste from our residential environment.
As a leader who leads by example, he was always on ground with the staff of the ministry & state taskforce to supervise, monitor and to ensure strict compliance of Delta State Monthly Environmental Exercise.
Today, the narrative of in individual’s mindset towards cleanliness has changed for the better.
Chief Asiuwhu has made his mark, he is now been referred to as ‘ENVIRONMENT MASTER
