Arenyeka Tasks FOOG Women Group on Statewide Mobilisation, Membership Expansion

The Delta State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Solomon Arenyeka, has urged the FOOG Women Support Group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to expand its activities and membership to all 25 local government areas of the state.

Arenyeka gave the charge on Wednesday when the President-General of the group, Chief (Mrs.) Esther Ori Okotie-Eboh, led members on a visit to the APC State Secretariat in Asaba, where they presented empowerment items and 100 pieces of wrappers to the party.

Describing the delegation as “a very veritable, dynamic, agile and politically structured group,” Arenyeka said FOOG had demonstrated its capacity to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the party.

According to him, support groups remain important instruments of political mobilisation, recalling that several such groups had contributed to the success of political parties in the past.

“Support groups are instruments of driving the wheel of the party. If you just sit down and say APC every day, APC every day, we will get there, but it will not be as fast as when you have many support groups driving the vehicle of APC,” he said.

The APC chairman, however, advised the group to ensure that its activities and messages remained in line with the principles and objectives of the party.

He also noted that some local government areas were not represented during the visit and urged the group to broaden its membership and activities across the state.

Arenyeka thanked the FOOG Women Group for its gesture and assured the members of the party’s support. He urged them to continue their mobilisation peacefully and “win more people, win more souls.”

Responding, the Director-General of the group and Iye of Warri Kingdom, Chief (Mrs.) Esther Ori Okotie-Eboh, said FOOG was established by women of like minds committed to empowering women and youths across Delta State.

She said the group had carried out more than 1,000 empowerment activities, adding that its membership had grown to more than 1,000 politically active members.

Okotie-Eboh expressed appreciation to the group’s leader and patron, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, for his steadfast support and commitment to ensuring that the group reached communities across the state.

She said the group had been moving around the state to empower women, stressing that it was important to seek the support and blessing of the party leadership.

“We have been going around empowering our women. We said we cannot do this without coming to meet our fathers and leaders of the party. Without them, we are nowhere,” she said.

The FOOG president-general also commended former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, for his encouragement and advice to the group and one of their members, Hon. (Mrs) Irene Imila, who was unavoidably absence on a courtesy visit to APC secretariat, Asaba, Delta State.

She explained that the group’s visit to the APC secretariat was not only to present the empowerment items but also to formally seek the blessing and support of the party leadership for its activities.

Among the items presented to the party were 10 coolers, 10 gas cookers, 10 cooking pots and 10 frying pans, in addition to 100 pieces of wrappers.

Okotie-Eboh said FOOG would continue to mobilise and empower women and youths while working within the framework of the APC to expand its reach across Delta State.
