APC Chieftain Ayoma Urges Oborevwori, Omo-Agege, DafinoneTo End Media War, Protect Urhobo Image.
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jeremi Ward 1, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Ayoma, has appealed to Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and Senator Ede Dafinone to immediately halt the ongoing media exchanges among their supporters and political associates in order to preserve the dignity and unity of the Urhobo Nation.
In a strongly worded statement made available to journalists, Chief Ayoma expressed concern over recent political attacks and counterattacks involving the camps of the three prominent Urhobo political leaders, describing the situation as unfortunate and capable of tarnishing the image of the Urhobo people.
According to him, politics in Delta State has existed for decades without political leaders resorting to personal attacks, insults, or dragging the names of family members and departed relatives into public discourse.
He lamented that recent appearances and discussions on national television platforms, particularly Arise Television, have generated unnecessary controversies, with political aides and supporters focusing more on verbal attacks than constructive engagement on issues affecting the people.
Chief Ayoma noted that while political differences are inevitable in a democracy, they should not degenerate into public ridicule and character assassination among respected sons of Urhobo land.
He further criticized the silence of some elders and leaders within the Urhobo Nation, alleging that many have refrained from speaking out due to political appointments, contracts, and other benefits tied to government patronage.
The APC stalwart emphasized that the Urhobo Nation remains one of the most influential ethnic nationalities in Nigeria and the largest ethnic group in Delta State, stressing that its leaders must always conduct themselves in ways that promote unity, mutual respect, and development.
He recalled the era when Urhobo leaders worked together despite political differences, citing the historic political maturity that characterized the emergence of the late Chief Felix Ibru as the first civilian governor of Delta State.
Chief Ayoma therefore appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and Senator Ede Dafinone to put an end to the media war and prevail on their aides, supporters, and media teams to cease all forms of insults and inflammatory statements.
“Our leaders remain great sons of the Urhobo Nation. Political disagreements should not destroy the respect and honour they have earned over the years. It is time to save the Urhobo name and restore the spirit of unity and brotherhood that our people are known for,” he said.
He wished Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and Senator Ede Dafinone continued success in their service to Delta State and the Urhobo people.Suggested Headline:
