Hon. Karo Goru Delivering The More Agenda Through DESOPADEC
As the Honourable Commissioner representing the good people of Udu, Ughelli south, Uvwie and Urhobos of Warri South Local Government Area in Delta State Oil-Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon. Karo Goru plays a pivotal role in translating government policies into actionable strategies aimed at fostering development within areas endowed with oil resources. Since he was sworn in on Friday May 26, 2023, Hon. Goru, has hit the ground running ensuring that indigenes of the aforementioned oil producing communities benefit from the God given oil proceeds bestowed on them.
The Commission which serves as intermediaries between the government and the oil producing communities, Hon Goru is ensuring that policies are effectively implemented to address socio-economic challenges and maximised the benefits of oil production in his mandate areas.
As an individual whose foray into politics is laced with genuine heart for service to his people, and for easy accessibility by the people of his mandate areas, upon resumption in office Hon Jonathan Goru Oghenekaro, setup a zonal office in a very stretegic area along DSC expressway Ovwian in Udu Local Government Area.
As a representative of the people the Honourable Commissioner has engaged various community leaders, critical stakeholders and Royal fathers in his mandate areas to foster meaningful working relationship, and as Ambassador of peace on many occasions Hon Karo Goru has facilitated dialogue and collaboration between government agencies, oil companies, and host communities to address concerns, negotiate agreements, and ensure the participation of residents in decision-making processes.
Hon Goru understanding the significance of human capital development has contributed his quota to the “More Agenda” of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, by engaging the services of more than 80 people from his mandate areas as his personal assistants, awarded scholarships to indigenous students and free Jamb form for more than 300 students in order to empower his people and shaping their socio-economic development.
Recently the Commissioner carried out free medical eye treatment and operation, training and educational programmes to equip local residents with the skills and knowledge needed to participate in the workforce and entrepreneurial activities.
On his infrastructural development stride, Hon Goru has carried out construction of street lightings at Ogbe-Udu, construction of Karo street road at Orhuwhorun and he is working around the clock to see to the completion of all DESOPADEC projects in his mandate areas and executions of new projects. He will ensure that the interests of the good people of Udu, Ughelli south, Uvwie and Urhobos of Warri South Local Government Area are taken into account in the development and implementation of policies related to oil producing communities and distribution of dividends of democracy.
