Delta Guber: Oborevwori Overcomes Another Legal Hurdle
By Ogheneluemu Sylvester Imonina, Esq.
The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and the Gubernatorial Candidate of PDP in Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori has scaled another legal hurdle in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/631/2022. The Plaintiffs in the case, Kanaba Ovie Duke and Osigidi Amos sued Sheriff Francis Oborevwori and PDP as Defendant in the case.
The case wherein Ekeme Ohwovoriole SAN and Ayo Asala SAN appeared as Counsel for Oborevwori and PDP respectively did undergo full blown trial. Amongst some of the complaints of the Plaintiffs against the Defendants, particularly Sheriff Oborevwori was issue of his qualifications.
The Court, after listening to the arguments of counsel on behalf of their respective clients, gave a considered judgement today, the 27th of June, 2022.
The Federal High Court judge, sitting in Abuja, amongst others reasons, dismissed the case of the Plaintiffs for want of locus standi and lacking in merit. It would be recall that before PDP Gubernatorial Primaries, the Plaintiffs hurriedly went to Court with the sole aim of stopping Oborevwori from participating in the Primaries and/ or acting as stumbling blocks to Chief Oborevwori’s Political quest for 2023.
With this development, the road to 2023 Gubernatorial election for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is becoming clearer daily.
