PFN Summit: Ukodhiko Calls for Christian Participation in Politics, Backs APC Candidates
The member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has called on Christians across the country to take a more active role in politics, insisting that their participation is essential to shaping good governance and influencing decisions that affect society.
Ukodhiko made the call on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the 2026 Summit of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Isoko North Chapter, which also marked the first anniversary of the chapter’s executive committee. The event was held at the Gospel Church of Christ, Ozoro, Delta State.
The summit, with the theme, “The Ancient Landmark,” focused on the need to preserve Christian values, uphold the tenets of the faith and protect the spiritual heritage handed down through generations.
In his goodwill message, the lawmaker congratulated the PFN leadership in Isoko North on its first anniversary, commending its commitment to the growth of the Christian faith.
He stressed the importance of sacrificial giving in the service of God, urging Christians to remain committed to the values and principles established by Jesus Christ.
Speaking on the theme, Ukodhiko cautioned against abandoning the spiritual foundations of Christianity, calling on believers to remain steadfast in their faith, united in purpose and committed to spreading the Gospel.
He also urged Christians to live purposeful lives, noting that the uncertainty of human existence makes it imperative for everyone to conduct themselves responsibly and maintain peaceful relationships with others.
According to him, the legacies people leave behind through their actions and contributions to society ultimately determine how they will be remembered.
He prayed that the anniversary would mark the beginning of greater spiritual growth, divine blessings and renewed unity among Christians across Isoko Nation.
Addressing the need for greater Christian involvement in politics, Ukodhiko said politics should not be regarded as inherently dirty, arguing that the negative perception surrounding it was largely a product of the conduct of some individuals involved in the process.
“Politics is not inherently dirty. Rather, the character and conduct of some individuals involved in politics have created the wrong perception that politics is dirty,” he said.
He urged members of the PFN and Christians across Nigeria not to withdraw from political activities because of the perceived shortcomings of some politicians.
According to him, Christians must recognise that government plays a critical role in shaping society and should therefore be actively involved in the political process to influence decisions and promote responsible leadership.
“After God, it is government, and we must be part of the system if we are to contribute to shaping it,” he said.
The federal lawmaker encouraged Christians to get involved in politics at the grassroots, particularly at the local government, ward, and polling unit levels, while calling on the congregation to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) by voting for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and all other APC candidates in the 2027 generalelections.
He also urged them to exercise their civic responsibilities by participating in elections, stressing that every vote counts and that Christians should not surrender their stake in decisions that determine the future of society.
A major highlight of the event was a special prayer session during which the clergy and congregation prayed for Ukodhiko, committing him to God’s protection and guidance and seeking divine favour for his political aspirations and victory in the forthcoming elections.
