The Director General of the Unique Sound Minds Initiative, Chief Austin Emaduku, PhD, has called on the people of Udu Kingdom to place the collective interest of the kingdom above personal, political, and sectional considerations in addressing issues affecting the future of the area.

In a statement titled, “The Question Should Be: How Does It Best Serve Udu’s Interests?”, Chief Emaduku urged stakeholders across the kingdom to make the welfare, peace, unity, and sustainable development of Udu the guiding principle in every decision and action.

Addressing the people of Udu, he noted that discussions surrounding the future of the kingdom should not be driven by personalities, sentiments, or temporary political interests, but by a sincere commitment to what advances the common good.

According to him, “The true test of our judgment is not whether a decision benefits an individual, a group, or a political interest. The true test is whether it advances the peace, progress, unity, and prosperity of Udu Kingdom.”

He described the principle as the enlightened self-interest of a people, stressing that genuine development can only be achieved when collective aspirations take precedence over individual ambitions.

Chief Emaduku observed that Udu is strategically positioned in Delta State and Nigeria, blessed with abundant natural resources, talented youths, industrious citizens, and a rich cultural heritage. However, he said these advantages would only translate into meaningful progress if the people consistently placed the interest of the kingdom above every other consideration.

He urged residents to evaluate both past and future decisions by asking critical questions such as whether such decisions would promote development, create opportunities for young people, strengthen peace and unity, improve education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic growth, and leave a worthy legacy for future generations.

“If the answer is yes, then it deserves our collective support regardless of who initiated it. If the answer is no, then we must have the courage and wisdom to reject it, regardless of who stands behind it. Our guiding light should always be Udu first before self,” he stated.

The Unique Sound Minds Initiative further emphasised that history remembers men and women who sacrificed personal interests for the common good, adding that the present generation bears the responsibility of shaping a future that inspires generations yet unborn.

Chief Emaduku therefore appealed to leaders, youths, elders, and all stakeholders to rise above division, embrace dialogue, and work together in the collective interest of Udu Kingdom.

He reminded the people that while political offices and titles are temporary, the impact of today’s decisions on the lives of the people and future generations will endure.

Reaffirming the Initiative’s position, he concluded that the overriding question in every matter concerning the kingdom should always be: How does it best serve Udu’s interests?

The statement ended with a call for wisdom, unity, and progress, while reiterating the Initiative’s guiding motto: “One People. One Voice. One Purpose.”
