The Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Deacon Matthew Kwode, JP, has commended the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, for convening stakeholders from across the state to deliberate on ways of tackling insecurity and strengthening peace in the state.

Deacon Kwode gave the commendation while reacting to the Delta State Security Summit 2026, held at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, yesterday, Wednesday, 17/06/26, with the theme, “Security: A Collective Responsibility.”

According to him, the summit was timely considering the pockets of insecurity being witnessed in some parts of the country, including incidents of terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities that continue to pose threats to lives and property.

He noted that Governor Oborevwori’s decision to bring together critical stakeholders, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies and other relevant groups demonstrates his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Deltans.

Deacon Kwode stated that security is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation and cooperation of government, security agencies and citizens, stressing that the summit provides a platform for stakeholders to collectively fashion out strategies aimed at addressing emerging security challenges in the state.

He praised the governor for being proactive in confronting security concerns rather than waiting for them to escalate, adding that the initiative would further strengthen intelligence gathering, community policing and collaboration among stakeholders.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors Coordinator also urged residents of Delta State to support government efforts by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities within their communities to relevant security agencies.

While reaffirming his support for the state’s security initiatives, Deacon Kwode expressed confidence that the resolutions reached at the summit would contribute significantly to maintaining peace, stability and sustainable development across Delta State.
