Uduaghan: Ukodhiko Mourns Ex-Governor, Consoles Itsekiri Nation, Deltans
The member representing Isoko North and Isoko South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. (Pst.) Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, describing his passing as a painful loss to the state.
Uduaghan died on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the age of 71.
In a condolence message issued by his Media Team, Ukodhiko commiserated with the late governor’s wife, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, his children, the Uduaghan family of Abigborodo, the Itsekiri nation and the entire people of Delta State.
The federal lawmaker, who is Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology, acknowledged Uduaghan’s contributions to the development of Delta State, particularly in public administration, human capital development, infrastructure and security.
He recalled that Uduaghan served as Commissioner for Health between 1999 and 2003 and Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007 before becoming governor, a position he held until 2015.
Ukodhiko noted that the former governor’s years in public service represented a significant chapter in Delta State’s history, adding that his efforts to improve the welfare of the people and promote peaceful coexistence among the state’s diverse ethnic groups would remain part of his legacy.
“On behalf of my family and the good people of Isoko North and Isoko South Federal Constituency, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, his children, the entire Uduaghan family of Abigborodo, the Itsekiri nation and the government and people of Delta State.
“This is a painful loss, not only to his immediate family and the Itsekiri nation but also to Delta State, which he served in various capacities, including as governor. I pray that God grants his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Ukodhiko said.
The lawmaker prayed that Almighty God would grant the departed former governor eternal rest and comfort his family, friends, political associates and all Deltans mourning his passing.
