Ossai Ovie Success, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Delta State, has paid an emotional tribute to the late former governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, recalling how the former governor publicly expressed that he missed him during his absence from social media in December 2019.
In a heartfelt tribute, Ossai described Uduaghan as one of his biggest admirers, saying the former governor’s Facebook post, “Where is Ossai, we miss him,” remains one of the most unforgettable moments of his journey in public service.
Uduaghan died on Monday, October 19, 2026, leaving behind memories of his years in public office and relationships with individuals who served in different capacities across Delta State.
Recounting the incident, Ossai said he was away from social media for about two months in 2019 due to circumstances beyond his control. During that period, he said his absence generated conversations online, with people reportedly calling for his return.
According to him, while he was away from the media space, his phone began receiving numerous calls and WhatsApp messages from friends who drew his attention to a Facebook post by the former governor.
Ossai said he was stunned when he eventually saw the post in which Uduaghan asked, “Where is Ossai, we miss him.”
He described the statement as deeply moving, noting that he read the words repeatedly and was overwhelmed by the former governor’s public show of affection.
“For a former governor to say ‘we miss him’ about me, it was not politics. It was not eye service. It was genuine. It was fatherly. It was deep,” Ossai recalled.
He said the gesture meant far more to him than a social media post, interpreting it as a powerful expression of recognition and encouragement from a respected elder who valued his contributions.
According to Ossai, Uduaghan continued to follow his activities on social media even after leaving office, frequently calling him to discuss his posts, exchange ideas, ask questions, make corrections and share moments of laughter.
He described the former governor as a father figure who related warmly with younger people and understood the importance of encouragement, regardless of status or position.
Ossai said the experience taught him that genuine service could leave lasting impressions on leaders who understood the value of people and their contributions.
“You reminded me that service is never forgotten by true leaders,” he said, reflecting on the significance of Uduaghan’s public acknowledgement during a period when he was away from his regular media engagements.
He added that the former governor’s words reassured him that his efforts had not gone unnoticed, describing the Facebook post as an enduring source of motivation throughout his public service journey.
Paying his final respects, Ossai described Uduaghan as humble, caring and uncommon, saying he would continue to cherish the former governor’s wisdom, calls, messages and fatherly advice.
“Thank you for that Facebook post. Thank you for those six words,” he said.
Ossai concluded his tribute by expressing his profound sense of loss and assuring that the former governor’s legacy and personal impact would remain alive in the memories of those whose lives he touched.
“We miss you more. I miss you more. I miss your wisdom. I miss your fatherly voice, calls and messages. I miss your calm advice,” he said.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the former governor, declaring that he would never forget the man whose simple public expression of affection became one of his most treasured memories.
