Udu Council Chairman Oyibode Visits Family of Slain Oghenemine, Calls For Swift Justice.
The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun( Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, JP, FCIA has strongly condemned the gruesome and unlawful killing of an Udu indigene, 28-year-old Late Master Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known by his stage name OG Million.
The Udu council Chairman described the incident as a tragic violation of human rights and a direct assault on the rule of law, alleging that the deceased was killed by one ASP Usman Nuhu of the Effurun Area Command alongside other officers under the pretext of suspected illegal possession of firearms.
The Udu Council Boss, Oyibode made this known today Thursday, April 30, 2026, during a condolence visit to the bereaved family at Papa Philip Ovedje compound, Dugbo Avenue, opposite 2nd Kolokolo junction, before Sedco roundabout, Enerhen.
According to him, extrajudicial killings erode public confidence in law enforcement institutions, weaken the justice system and create a dangerous precedent where security operatives assume the roles of judge, jury, and executioner.
“Such actions cannot and must not be tolerated in any civilized society,” he stated.
An emotional Oyibode urged the family to remain calm, assuring them that he would personally monitor the case to ensure that justice is duly served on all officers involved, despite reports that they have been dismissed by the Inspector-General of Police. He further vowed that the matter would not be swept under the carpet.
Who owns the waybill? ASP Usman Nuhu must provide answers,” the chairman stated, stressing that no individual should be subjected to unlawful execution without proper investigation and due legal process.
He noted that the action represents a grave violation of the fundamental right to life as guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), emphasizing that the principle of presumption of innocence remains one of the foundational pillars of the nation’s justice system.
The late Ogidi, an upcoming music artist from Udu was reportedly killed on April 26, 2026, in Effurun under controversial circumstances. Reports indicate that he had earlier been declared missing by his family after failing to return home, only for the shocking revelation to later emerge that he was allegedly killed following the discovery of a firearm in a waybill said to be in his possession.
The deceased’s father, Mr. Lucky Ogidi, hails from Ujevwu, while the mother, Mrs. Roseline Ogidi, is from Emadadja.
