NYCN Delta Fixes June 12 for Burial of Wilfred Ovuorayevbie, Calls for Support

The National Youth Council of Nigeria has announced the burial arrangements for its late State Patron and Chairman of the Delta Central Elders Forum, Chief Comr. Rotn. Wilfred E.A. Ovuorayevbie, while also calling on members and stakeholders to support the burial financially.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman of the Council, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, the leadership of the Council notified past state chairmen, leaders of voluntary youth organizations, state executive members, local government chairmen, stakeholders, and the entire NYCN family of the burial ceremony scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026, in Ughelli.

According to the burial programme released by the family, the body of the late elder statesman will depart the Central Hospital Mortuary, Ughelli by 8:00am to his residence at Ekiugbo, opposite Oseri Street Junction, with a brief stopover at the Elders’ Council Hall.

A funeral service is scheduled to hold by 11:00am at the Church of Transfiguration, while interment follows at 12:30pm at his compound opposite Ekiugbo Primary School. Guests are expected to be entertained afterwards at Ekiugbo Primary School, Ekiugbo-Ughelli.

The Council described the late Chief Ovuorayevbie as a committed stakeholder, mentor, and father figure whose sacrifices and contributions towards youth development and unity in Delta State would remain unforgettable.

“As a respected elder and patron of the Council, his guidance, support, and commitment to the progress of youths across the state left lasting impacts on generations of youth leaders,” the statement noted.

To honour his memory and ensure a befitting burial, the NYCN leadership appealed to members, stakeholders, and well-wishers to contribute financially towards the burial activities.

The Council also announced that an official burial cloth is available for interested members at the cost of ₦5,500, with arrangements coordinated through the NYCN Ughelli North Chairman.

Contributions are to be paid into the designated account provided by the burial committee, while payment confirmations are expected to be forwarded to the Vice Chairman, Delta Central, Dr. Akpo James Adugbo.

The statement further urged members of the youth council and the wider community to participate actively in the burial activities as a mark of honour to the late youth leader and elder statesman.
