Esaba-Ukperheren River: Advocating For Iron Pontoon To Ease Transportation Woes
By Moses Darah
The Esaba-Ukperheren River has been a challenge for the communities in Udu and Ughelli South Local Government Areas. As the Delta State government under the leadership of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori plans to construct a bridge across the Esaba-Ukperheren River, it is essential to find temporary solutions to ease the suffering of the people.
Purchasing an iron pontoon would be an excellent idea, as it can provide a safe and convenient way for people to cross the river. An iron pontoon can be used to replace the old wooden one for the transportation of human beings and agricultural produce.
The Executive Chairmen of Udu and Ughelli South Local Government Councils, Olorogun (Dcn) Vincent Ogjeneruemu Oyibode (JP) and Hon (Dr) Lucky Avweromre (JP), have shown commitment to people-oriented projects. Collaborating to purchase an iron pontoon for the Esaba-Ukperheren River would be a significant step in addressing the needs of their people in line with the MORE agenda of Gov Oborevwori’s administration.
An iron pontoon would not only provide a temporary solution but also have long-term benefits, such as improved transportation, economic benefits and enhanced livelihoods.
I hope the Executive Chairmen will consider this proposal and work together to provide an iron pontoon for the Esaba-Ukperheren River in the 2025 budget, bringing relief and opportunities to the communities they serve.
