Call Your CPS To Order Over Social Media Attack On Asiuwhu, Akpibere Tells Isaac Aguanah, Patani LGC Chairman.
The Media Director to the Chairman of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Pastor Williams Akpibere has urged the Executive Chairman of Patani Local Government Council, Hon. Isaac Aguanah to urgently caution his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Johnbull DSP Jnr, over his failed renewed social media attacks on Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP or we will perceive that you are the one sending him, then we will know the next step to take.
In a statement made available to journalists, Akpibere expressed concern over what he described as a recurring pattern of online conduct by the Chief Press Secretary, which he said had previously generated controversy within the local political space.
He recalled that in 2023, through security investigations, Mr. Johnbull DSP Jnr was discovered as the owner and author of a Facebook avatar, named : Etievie Mcpherson account, with series of fabricated publishing stories considered to defamatory against Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu.
The matter, according to him had at the time drawn the attention of security agencies and investigation, leading to the aide’s arrest for questioning.
Then, he confessed guilty to the crime, and owned up that he was only apprehensive of the political reputation of Chief Asiuwhu, and as the only one that has the ball to contend with his boss for the position of the council chairman then, hence he towed the lines of blackmailing him.
The statement further noted that following interventions by stakeholders, including appeals from Hon Isaac Aguanah, the local government chairman, his boss proving of not having any knowledge of what his CPS was doing, the local government leadership and family associates, pressured him to drop the charges of cyber bullying and cyber-stalking against him and was made to write undertaking and others linked with him not repeat such act again.
He therefore, called on Hon. Isaac Aguanah, the Patani Local Government Council Chairman to ensure strict supervision of its media team and political appointees, stressing the need for discipline and responsibility in digital communication.
According to him, public office holders must be held accountable for the conduct of their aides, particularly in the management of sensitive information and online engagements.
“The Patani Chairman cannot feign ignorance of the actions of his aide against Chief Asiuwhu,” he stated.
He further argued that the perceived offence of Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu which triggered the renewed fabricated stories attacks, stemmed from growing public recognition of his developmental contributions in Patani Local Government even as calls continue for him to run the post of council chairman come 2027.
If l may ask why are they afraid of Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP, he concluded.
