Delta State Govt. To Leverage On AI And Robotics In Fight Against Insecurity- Udoka

Asaba, Delta State – In a bold move to combat rising security challenges, the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security, led by Engr. Emmanuel Udoka, has outlined a strategy to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Mechanical Intelligence into the state’s security framework.

Recognizing the evolving nature of criminal activities, the initiative seeks to modernize law enforcement by utilizing cutting-edge technology to improve surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response capabilities.

According to Engr. Udoka, AI-powered crime prediction models, facial recognition technology, and drone surveillance will play a significant role in enhancing security across the state. These technologies will enable law enforcement agencies to analyze vast amounts of data, identify criminal patterns, and prevent crimes before they occur.

“The fight against insecurity requires a proactive approach that blends human intelligence with advanced technology. AI-driven platforms can help security agencies detect threats faster, allocate resources efficiently, and collaborate more effectively with the community,” he stated.

Key Components of the Initiative

  1. AI-Driven Crime Prevention:
    • Analysis of historical crime data, social media trends, and financial transactions to predict and curb criminal activities.
    • Use of AI-based smart cameras and facial recognition technology for real-time monitoring.
  2. Drone and Robotic Surveillance:
    • Deployment of drones with high-resolution cameras for aerial surveillance in high-risk areas.
    • Use of robotic systems for search and rescue operations and intelligence gathering.
  3. Community Engagement and Intelligence Sharing:
    • AI-powered platforms for anonymous crime reporting by residents.
    • Real-time security updates and alerts to inform citizens about potential threats.
  4. Training and Collaboration:
    • Specialized training programs for law enforcement on AI applications and surveillance technology.
    • Partnerships with tech companies to develop tailored security solutions for Delta State.
  5. Policy and Ethical Considerations:
    • Establishment of clear guidelines on AI usage in law enforcement to safeguard citizens’ privacy and rights.
    • Development of pilot programs in high-risk areas to test and refine AI-based security measures.

Next Steps: Stakeholders’ Meeting

To ensure a seamless integration of these technologies, the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security is advocating for a stakeholders’ meeting. This forum will bring together government officials, security agencies, technology experts, and community leaders to discuss the feasibility and implementation of the proposed AI-driven security strategies.

Engr. Udoka emphasized that collaborative efforts are crucial in addressing security threats effectively. “By leveraging AI and robotics, we are taking a major step toward creating a safer Delta State. But success depends on strategic partnerships, public trust, and proper implementation,” he added.

The initiative aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration’s commitment to improving security and fostering an environment conducive to business, investment, and socio-economic development.

As Delta State prepares to embrace technology in its security operations, residents are encouraged to support and participate in efforts aimed at ensuring a safer, more secure future for all.
