NYCN Delta to Hold “Delta Beyond Drugs” Advocacy Campaign to Mark 2026 World Drug Day

The Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has announced plans to host its flagship “Delta Beyond Drugs” Advocacy Campaign as part of activities marking the 2026 World Drug Day.

The programme, themed “From Awareness to Action: Mobilizing Students for a Drug-Free Delta State,” is scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the James Onanefe Ibori Auditorium, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara. The event will commence at 10:00 a.m., while guests are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m.

According to a statement issued by the NYCN Delta State Council, the advocacy campaign is designed to bring together government officials, youth leaders, students, security agencies, and other critical stakeholders to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and promote a healthier, drug-free society across Delta State.

The Council noted that the programme aims to move beyond awareness by inspiring collective action among young people, particularly students, in addressing the growing challenge of substance abuse.

The NYCN has therefore called on all State Executive Members, Local Government Area Chapter Chairmen—especially those from Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts—stakeholders, and Heads of Affiliated Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYOs) to mobilize their officials and members for active participation in the event.

The Council expressed confidence that the support and presence of participants would contribute significantly to the success of the campaign and reinforce the collective commitment to building a drug-free Delta State.

The statement concluded with the rallying call: “Together, let’s say NO to drugs and YES to life.”

The statement was signed by the State Secretary of the NYCN Delta State Council, Comrade Onyimah Michael Chukwuemeke.
