Onojaeme Launches Chris & Stella Foundation’s One-Month Free Antenatal, Delivery Programme at Okemezi Memorial Hospital

*Distributes routine antenatal drugs and treated mosquito nets to over 200 pregnant women

UGHELLI – DETERMINED to bring succour to pregnant women and people of Ughelli and its environs in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s “Renew Hope” mantra, the Delta State Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme on Monday February 2, 2026 fly off Chris & Stella Foundation’s one-month free antenatal/delivery program at Okemezi Memorial Hospital Ughelli, Delta State.

Dr. Onojaeme represented by the Zonal Medical Director of Central Hospital, Ughelli, Dr. Onoriode Umolo lauded the good gesture of building a hospital with the state-of-the-Art in Ughelli metropolis.

According to him, the hospital will complement the Ughelli central hospital, it will boost health care for the people of Ughelli inline with the Renew Hope For More Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who is also giving free medical care to pregnant women all over the state.

“I’m Dr. Mrs. Onoriode Umolo, the Zona Medical Director of Central Hospital, Ughelli. I’m here representing the Honorable Commissioner for Health,
Honorable Joseph Onoajemo.

“I’m here to flag off the free one-month antenatal care for pregnant women by Okemezi Memorial Hospital sponsored by Chris & Stella Foundation.

“The hospital will serve the people of Ughelli and Delta State well, it will boost health care for the people of Ughelli, and in line with the Renew Hope For More Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who is also giving free medical care to pregnant women all over the state”.

Onojaeme, called on Health Professionals in the state to emulate the good gesture of Olorogun Dr. Chris Oharisi in supporting the government of the state through his private setting by bringing health care to the less privileged in our communities.

Fielding questions from journalists, he said the hospital is not a threat to the Central Hospital, Ughelli, rather it will complement the Ughelli Central Hospital.
“I want to encourage the Medical Director of Okemezi Memorial Hospital, Olorogun Dr. Chris Oharisi, to collaborate with the public hospital, so that we can have a private-public partnership.

“They can also refer cases that they cannot handle here to the government hospital so it’s not a threat rather, it’s a joint venture to make sure that health care is improved in Ughelli metropolis.
“Go and publicize this hospital, let it be known that this kind of edifice has been put here. I’ve gone around, in fact, it’s commendable. What I see here is very, very commendable”.

Addressing newsmen, the MD of Okemezi Memorial Hospital, Dr. Chris Oharisi disclosed that the one-month free antenatal/delivery is sponsored by Chris & Stella Foundation, a non-government organization that keys into the Renew Hope For More Agenda of Governor Sheriff Obororivwo of Delta State.

The climax of the event was the presentation of free routine antenatal drugs to the pregnant women and also free mosquito nets to our 200 pregnant women to prevent them from getting malaria and also the unborn baby from getting malaria.
