Peaceful APC Congresses in Isoko North Linked to Rep. Ukodhiko’s Inclusive Approach
The just-concluded ward and Local Government Area (LGA) congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isoko North have left behind a resounding message of inclusivity, unity, maturity, and collaborative leadership.
At the centre of the peaceful and widely applauded exercise is the Member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency, Rep. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, whose calm and accommodating leadership style once again demonstrated that politics can be practised with fairness, compassion, and respect for all stakeholders.
From the onset of the congress process, Rep. Ukodhiko made it clear that party stability and unity must take precedence over personal interests.
Rather than allow divisions between the old APC bloc and the new APC bloc to linger, he deliberately pursued reconciliation, dialogue, and mutual respect, an approach that ultimately yielded positive results.
Across the 13 wards in Isoko North, the outcomes reflected a deliberate balance that gave every tendency within the party a sense of belonging.
About seven ward chairmanship positions went to members of the old APC bloc, alongside the emergence of the LGA Secretary and other key officers from the same fold.
This outcome was not accidental but a reflection of strategic inclusiveness anchored on the belief that leadership must carry everyone along.
Observers have described the exercise as one of the most peaceful congresses in the area’s recent political history. Contrary to earlier speculations, no crisis was recorded in any ward.
Even in Otor-Owhe, where some had predicted possible tension, the process was conducted smoothly, with an old APC bloc member emerging as chairman.
Reports of unrest proved unfounded, largely stemming from a few aggrieved individuals dissatisfied with the outcome.
Rep. Ukodhiko’s consistent message that politics should not be a winner-takes-all contest appears to have helped mend past divisions, reduce suspicion among stakeholders, and strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure in Isoko North.
Party faithful across the wards have openly acknowledged that the peaceful atmosphere was not by chance but the result of deliberate consultations and bridge-building efforts by Rep. Ukodhiko and other party leaders.
By ensuring that both old and new APC members were accommodated, he has reinforced internal democracy and strengthened party cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
As the congresses conclude, one clear lesson stands out, when leaders prioritise inclusion over exclusion and unity over division, peace becomes inevitable.
Isoko North now stands as an example of this principle, shaped by Rep. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko’s inclusive and people-oriented leadership.
Through a peaceful democratic process, the party has emerged stronger and more united, a development many believe will further consolidate the APC’s position in Isoko North in the months ahead.
