Taraba PDP Chairman Resigns, Set to Join Governor Kefas in Defection to APC

The political landscape in Taraba State has taken a dramatic turn as the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, has officially resigned from his position and withdrawn his membership from the party.

Sources confirmed that Alhaji Bawa announced his resignation shortly after returning from the PDP national convention held in Ibadan. His exit marks a significant development within the state chapter of the party, which has recently witnessed internal tensions and shifting alliances.

It is widely anticipated that Alhaji Bawa will soon make a formal move to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). His expected defection aligns with ongoing speculation that Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, is also preparing to lead a major political realignment by dumping the PDP for the APC.

If confirmed, the dual defections of Governor Kefas and the immediate past PDP state chairman would significantly reshape the political dynamics in Taraba State, potentially strengthening the APC’s structure while weakening the PDP’s influence in the region.

Political observers are closely monitoring developments as the state braces for what could become one of the most consequential political shifts ahead of the next election cycle.
