In a bid to keep the Environment Clean during the yuletide season, Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Godspower Asiuwhu has called on Deltans and residents of the state to keep their environment, business premises clean and beautiful.
The Commissioner made the call while speaking to newmen in his office in Asaba.
He said it was necessary to ensure a healthy environment as the state would welcome more visitors and as such more waste is expected to be generated during this festive period.
He advised residents to take ownership of their environment, by cutting overgrown weeds, avoid indiscriminate refuse dump, burning of waste, desilt their drainage, keep 20 meters away from their premises clean to prevent unwanted diseases.
He admonished everyone to intensify more effort to manage their waste properly and dispose resultant waste through the Private Sector Participants (PSPs) to government approved dump site.
While wishing Deltans a merry Christmas and prosperous new year, Chief Asiuwhu said “when the environment is clean and healthy it will attract more tourism and a conducive environment in the state for business to strive”.
