WE HAVE VENTURED INTO OTHER UNTAPPED REVENUE SAYS ONYEME
The Executive Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Service Sir Monday John Onyeme has stated that the revenue service under his leadership has ventured into other unconventional and largely untapped revenue outside the regular PAYE, Withholding taxes, Road taxes etc.
Speaking Yesterday Thursday 7/10/21 at the Conference Hall, Revenue Service Headquarters during a meeting with head of stations, units heads, Directors and consultants, ONYEME noted that the primary assignments of the service to to generate revenue for the state government in other to shoulder the financial Implications of Projects and provision of other basic amenities that will have great impacts on the lives of the citizenry.
According to him, the Revenue Service has embarked on full Implementation of the consolidated MDAs Billing System (CMBS) to eliminate touts as well as to block revenue leakages, the Whistle Blowers Policy and other strategic Policies that will not only boost the Internally generated revenue but will also track down establishment/Companies that are evading taxes.
While calling on all staff of the service to re-double their efforts towards achieving the set goals of the service, he revealed that the state government set a revenue target of 65billion for the 2021 fiscal year and as a service we are working assiduously to exceed this target and this requires the efforts of all and sundry from the least staff to the head of stations.
He frowned at the poor performance of some head of stations who he said blatantly refused to Improve on their monthly revenue generation efforts in spite of all the circulars and directives as well as the periodic visits by the Internal Monitoring Team (IMT) which has led to the dismal collection from self employed, he stated clearly that any head of stations who refused to Improve will be replaced, as he called for improve on revenue from self employed.
He ordered for the posting of the two least performing Heads immediately to the head office to work under directors, while the CIT Ogbe-Ijoh who has not report to work for a long time yet collects impress from home and does nothing in the office should be posted to the Library at the Headquarters while new officers should be posted to head the affected offices.
