It is a gale of endorsements for the frontline aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly seat, Udu Constituency, Hon. Chief Dr. Henry Afure Sakpra, as the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Udu Local Government Branch on Monday, April 27, 2026, officially threw its weight behind his aspiration.
The endorsement took place at his residence in Ovwian Community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, during a meeting attended by teachers drawn from both primary and secondary schools across the council area. Members unanimously expressed confidence in Sakpra’s leadership capacity, proven track record, and commitment to grassroots development.
Speaking on behalf of the union, the Chairman of NUT, Udu Branch, Comrade Johnbull Igholohemu Gbejegbe, JP, described Dr. Sakpra as a transformational leader whose impact continues to resonate across Udu Kingdom.
According to Comrade Gbejegbe, “In every office Hon. Dr. Henry Afure Sakpra has occupied, he did not merely serve; he transformed, rebuilt, inspired, and elevated the people.”
He noted that teachers across Udu fondly recall with deep reverence Sakpra’s magnanimous outreach to the aged, the vulnerable, and the less privileged in the 32 communities of Udu Kingdom, describing it as a reflection of a heart deeply rooted in compassion and humanity.
The NUT Chairman further commended Sakpra’s unflinching commitment to education, particularly through the construction and rehabilitation of school infrastructure, including Ujevwu Secondary School and several other institutions within the local government.
He also highlighted major infrastructural projects associated with Sakpra, including Ovwian Road, Ekete Road, the Udu Legislative Complex, and the Udu High Court Building, describing them as enduring testimonies of visionary leadership that dares to dream and delivers beyond expectation.
The high point of the visit was the formal motion for Sakpra’s endorsement moved by Comrade Jite Juliana and seconded by Comrade Sokoh Lucky Monica. The motion received overwhelming support and was unanimously adopted through a voice vote.
On his part, an elated Dr. Henry Afure Sakpra expressed profound appreciation to the teachers for the confidence reposed in him.
He thanked both primary and secondary school teachers for their endorsement and pledged to provide quality representation if elected into the Delta State House of Assembly.
Sakpra assured the teachers that he would not forget their support and acknowledged their pivotal role in societal development.
According to him, “The voice of Udu will be heard loudly in Asaba. I will bring my political experience to bear and ensure effective representation that will attract meaningful development to our constituency.”
Political observers have described the endorsement by the NUT as a major boost to Sakpra’s aspiration, further strengthening his position as one of the leading contenders for the Udu Constituency seat in the forthcoming elections.
