NYCN orders Investigation Into Royal Rangers’ Involvement In Ughelli Church Incident
The National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN), Delta State Chapter, has ordered an investigation into the alleged involvement of some officers of Royal Rangers Nigeria in an incident involving a pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Chairman, Comr. Lazarus Nkwor, the Council expressed concern over the development, describing it as inconsistent with the discipline and responsibility expected of its affiliate organisations.
According to the statement, the State Chairman, Sagboje Odiri Milton, has directed the Provost, Comt. Isaiah Ovienlonba, to carry out a thorough, impartial and objective investigation into the matter and submit a report to the State Council within 24 hours.
He further directed the Provost to liaise with the NYCN Chairman in Ughelli North Local Government Area and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and fact-based inquiry.
The Council called for calm among stakeholders and members of the public, urging all parties involved to refrain from actions capable of escalating tensions while the investigation is ongoing.
It reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, accountability and peaceful conduct among its affiliates, noting that appropriate action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation, and that any act capable of tarnishing the image of the Council would not be tolerated.
