The National Association of Urhobo Professional Orators (NAUPO) has joined family members, associates, traditional institutions, and well-wishers across Urhobo land and beyond in celebrating the 80th birthday anniversary of Chief Engr. J.O. Omene, the Ejorhofo of Mosogar Kingdom and Ogbanogba of Urhobo Orators.
In a congratulatory message signed by its President General, Chief (Comr.) Emmanuel Adaboke, the Efeotovwe of Ewu Kingdom, the association paid glowing tribute to the elder statesman, describing him as one of the foremost custodians of Urhobo cultural heritage whose life has been marked by exceptional leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the promotion of Urhobo values and traditions.
NAUPO noted that Chief Omene’s contributions to the growth and preservation of Urhobo culture, traditional institutions and the art of oratory have earned him a distinguished place in the annals of Urhobo history. The association said his dedication to cultural advancement and community development has continued to inspire generations of Urhobo sons and daughters.
According to the statement, Chief Omene has, over the decades, demonstrated uncommon passion for the preservation of Urhobo identity, serving as a bridge between the rich traditions of the past and the aspirations of the present generation. His influence, NAUPO stated, extends beyond cultural circles, as he has remained a respected voice of wisdom, peace, and progress in society.
“Today, we celebrate not only the attainment of eighty remarkable years but also a life defined by honour, service, integrity, and an enduring commitment to the advancement of the Urhobo nation. Chief Engr. J.O. Omene’s legacy as a cultural ambassador, community leader, and distinguished orator will continue to inspire future generations,” the statement read.
The association further acknowledged his invaluable role in mentoring younger professionals and cultural enthusiasts, noting that his wealth of experience and steadfast dedication have contributed immensely to the strengthening of Urhobo cultural consciousness and pride.
As the revered octogenarian marks this significant milestone, NAUPO offered prayers for God’s continued guidance, robust health, peace of mind, and abundant blessings upon him. The association also expressed confidence that Chief Omene would continue to provide invaluable counsel and leadership in the years ahead.
NAUPO wished the celebrant a memorable and joyous 80th birthday anniversary, describing the occasion as a celebration of a life well lived and a legacy that will remain indelibly etched in the history of the Urhobo people.
