ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY :DTSG TO COLLABORATE WITH NMDPRA .

Today 7th of May 2024, The Delta State government through the State Environmental Taskforce held a strategic meeting with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Warri Field Office.

The meeting was at the instance of Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu JP , Chairman State Taskforce on Environment, to engage NMDPRA in a working synergy in order to guarantee environmental sustainability

Speaking , Chief Asiuwhu appreciated Engr. Ohwodiase O. V., coordinator, Warri Field Office coordinator, for the audience granted him and his team.
Furthermore, he said, that the purpose of the meeting which borders on the violations of the environmental laws by members who falls within the exclusive list of the parent body of NMDPRA and to seek a working synergy in a view of correcting such abnormalities.

Areas of concerned by Chief Asiuwhu, include :

• Issues of indiscriminate parking of tankers along the roadsides even when parking lot was provided for them & littering of the environment
• Operations gas dealers in an unconducive environment, constituting life threatening to their neighborhoods
• wrong practices of retailers operating in gas cylinders in residential compounds without safety measures put in place to forestall any eventuality of disaster .

Responding, the Warri Zonal coordinator, Engr Ohwodiase, thanked Chief Asiuwhu for the reasonable initiatives implored for a harmonious working relationship.
Also, he said, that they have various corrective measures in place to make sure their operations are in tandem or in compliance with the environmental laws.
Conclusively, he obliged for a working synergy to promote a safer, cleaner and greener, environment.
