Economic Summit: Ukodhiko Hails Oborevwori’s Drive for Delta’s Economic Transformation
The member representing Isoko North and Isoko South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Pst. Jonathan Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has praised Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for convening the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, describing the initiative as a bold step towards building a resilient, diversified, and investment-driven economy.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ukodhiko said the summit reflected the governor’s determination to chart a sustainable economic future for the state at a time when governments across the country are seeking to reduce dependence on oil revenues and federal allocations.
The federal lawmaker noted that bringing together renowned economists, investors, development partners, business leaders, academics, and policymakers from Nigeria and abroad underscored the administration’s commitment to developing practical strategies capable of unlocking Delta’s vast economic potential.
He said the summit provided a credible platform for meaningful engagement on critical issues affecting the state’s economic future, expressing optimism that the ideas and policy recommendations emerging from the discussions would stimulate investment, accelerate industrialisation, create jobs, and enhance Delta’s competitiveness as a preferred investment destination.
Ukodhiko added that the initiative went beyond addressing immediate economic concerns by strengthening collaboration between the government, the private sector, and development institutions, which he described as essential for achieving inclusive and long-term growth.
He commended Governor Oborevwori for what he called his visionary leadership and commitment to economic reforms, expressing confidence that faithful implementation of the summit’s resolutions would deepen economic prosperity, improve livelihoods, and position Delta as one of Nigeria’s leading sub-national economies.
The lawmaker also urged the state government to sustain the initiative by making the economic summit a regular forum for evaluating policies, attracting investment, and reviewing the state’s development priorities in line with global economic trends.
