Disregard Purported Installation of Egin As Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom – Adaun
By Sunday Apah
The chairman of Egbema Regency Council, Chief Johnbull Adaun, has urged the people of Egbema Kingdom and the public to disregard the purported installation of one Napoleon Egin as Agadagba-elect of Egbema Kingdom as it did not pass through the laid down processes and procedures leading to the selection and installation of the Bini- pere, the Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom.
In a press statement signed by Chief Johnbull Adaun, Chairman, Egbema Regency Council, said the press release was as a result of various social media publications and congratulatory messages of a purported installation of one Napoleon Egin as Agadagba elect of Egbema Kingdom.
The statement reads; “to put the records straight for the interest of the unsuspecting public that Egbema Kingdom has not selected not an Agadagba elect let alone presenting him to the general public.
“The instrument establishing the time tested tradition and custom of the Egbema kingdom, has laid down processes and procedures leading up the selection and installation of the Bini- pere, the Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom.
“To this end, since the demise of the last Agadagba Pere Gold Oro Tiemo, Bini- Pere the III of Egbema Kingdom, and in line with the dictates of the gazzatte, a Regency Council was duly constituted to oversee the affairs of the Kingdom during the period of the Interregnum and the period leading up to the selection and installation of a new Agadagba, which process is still ongoing.
“Where we are today in this process is a formal mandate to the Ogbudugbudu Ruling House whose turn is to produce the next Agadagba to submit their nomination to the the Kingdom.
“In a meeting of the kingdom held on 1st October, 2022 at the Town Hall in Ofunama, the Ogbudugbudu Ruling House has formally presented their nominees for screening and eventual selection of the next Agadagba elect of the Kingdom.
“The next step is for the kingdom to carry out the traditional and general screening and selection before the traditional stool at Ajakurama Town where such assignment is carried out by the king makers (Okparan abor).
“Anything outside this process is false, misleading and null and void and it is antithetical and anathema to the time tested traditional installation process of the Agadagba of the Kingdom.
“Therefore we want to state unequivocally that the information in the public domain about the purported installations is false, baseless and should be discountanced in its entirety has it is meant to mislead the general public and cause disaffection in the Kingdom.
“At the appropriate time, the general public will be informed of developments in the Kingdom”, it added.
