Dafinone Deserves Second Term, Says APC South-South Youth Leader Koyoyo
The South-South Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comr. Prince Uhrorho Koyoyo , has thrown his weight behind the second term ambition of Delta Central Senator, Senator Ede Dafinone, describing him as a disciplined party man deserving of continued support.
Koyoyo made the remarks on Sunday in Ughelli during the APC Delta Central Senatorial District mega declaration, where Dafinone formally signaled his intention to seek re-election.
Addressing party faithful, the youth leader conveyed greetings from the national and zonal leadership of the party, as well as from the senator himself, while highlighting the significance of the declaration.
According to him, Dafinone’s approach to his ambition reflects respect for party structure and leadership, noting that the lawmaker did not place himself above the party but followed due process by seeking approval before making his intention public.
“Today, we are witnessing the declaration of a committed and disciplined party man, one who does not see himself as bigger than the party,” Koyoyo said. “He has shown respect for party leadership by formally seeking approval. That is the mark of true loyalty and discipline.”
He observed that the presence of party stakeholders across all levels from the state to the senatorial district demonstrated unity and consensus within the APC in Delta Central, adding that the overwhelming support was a clear indication that Dafinone had earned a second term.
While maintaining that he spoke in his capacity as a party leader, Koyoyo nonetheless appealed to APC leaders at all levels to give due consideration to the senator’s re-election bid.
“For a man who has shown such respect for the party and identified fully with its ideals, I appeal to leaders at the national, state, local government and senatorial levels to consider him for another term,” he stated.
The APC chieftain also used the opportunity to commend the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that increased funding for development has transformed Delta State into what he described as a “construction hub.”
He pointed out that, unlike in the past, local government chairmen are now able to execute and commission impactful projects, which he attributed to improved funding and leadership at the federal level.
Koyoyo further addressed party youths, urging them to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of the APC. He stressed that the party must be driven by fairness, inclusiveness, and strong institutional structures rather than personal loyalty to individuals.
“Our party must not be built on personal loyalty. It must be built on structure, fairness, and opportunity for all,” he said, warning against practices that sideline members based on affiliations to specific individuals.
Reflecting on the evolution of the party, he noted that long-standing members would appreciate the progress made over the years, particularly in terms of leadership direction and internal cohesion.
He also issued a strong message on party discipline, stating that members unwilling to align with the party’s leadership and direction should reconsider their stance.
“To the youths, we have a voice and we must use it. We will not go back to the days of oppression. We will stand, we will speak, and we will build a better party for everyone,” he declared.
The event drew a large turnout of party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across Delta Central, further underscoring the growing momentum behind Dafinone’s second term bid.
