Akpotor Promises To Attract Development To Eku Community

The new President General of Eku Progress Union (EPU), Chief Dudu Akpotor has promised to liaise with the Government and other relevant agencies to attract development projects to Eku community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Chief Akpotor made this promise shortly after he and other members of the Executive of Eku Progress Union were inaugurated during the 2024 Eku General Annual Conference at Eku Town Hall.
Chief Akpotor who was sworn-in with Hon. Collins Eboh, 1st Vice President General, Ese Lucky Ogbemudia, 2nd Vice President General, Donaldson Isuvwe Onosakponome, National Secretary General, Dr. (Mrs.) Okpeki Philo Igue, National Treasurer, Obere Oghenerukevwe, National Financial Secretary, Barr. Anthony Ukueku, National Assistant Secretary General, Dr. Okpara Oghenesuvwe, National Publicity Secretary, Erhiga Gabriel Odesa, National Publicity Secretary to run the affairs of Eku community in the next three years, promised that in his tenure there will be remarkable development, mutual understanding, promotion of peace and unity among sons and daughters of Eku community.
He thanked God for the trust and confidence Eku people have on him by choosing him to lead them.
According to him, “I will do my best. There are many things to do to bring development to Eku and I will vigorously pursue them. We will do our best as a team. I need the cooperation of everybody. I count on everybody's support and prayer to make our tenure successful. We shall look into various development programmes and implement them.”
He thanked the past administration for their efforts and achievements and promised to work with the “Ogwa” (Council of Chiefs) for positive and purposeful leadership.
In his farewell address, the outgone President General of Eku Progress Union, Chief Barr. Ese Gam Owe who is the current President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) said that his administration made some remarkable achievements such as building of an 18 apartment market stalls to raise the stake of Eku market, adding that the land area of Eku Community Police Station is now fully secured with the boundaries fully defined.
He stated that Eku Baptist Government Hospital is now an annex of the Delta State Teaching Hospital with the State School of Nursing thriving so well, adding that they have worked harmoniously with Ogwa in council and have met their few demands.
According to him “The Eku Progress Union has placed the Okarorho (Oldest man) of Eku Community on a sustained monthly stipend which was recently increased. We have improved on internal security and challenges facing the Eku Community. The idea and era of a sit-tight executive of the Union is over. Eku Community can boast of its own Eku Community Transport, which has also become a community source of income”.
Chief Owe disclosed that his administration has saved N2.5 million in the bank to be handed over to the new administration.
He thanked the Elders, Chiefs, and people of Eku Community for their support during his tenure.
The Okarorho of Eku Community, Chief (Ogisi) William Emakunuya Okparume thanked the outgoing executive of EPU for their achievements during their tenure and prayed for the new executive to administer Eku Community progressively and surpass the achievements of the past executive of EPU.
Various branches of Eku Progress Union, such as Warri, Benin, Lagos, Asaba, Sapele, Ughelli among others were in attendance.
The occasion was rounded-off on Sunday with Thanksgiving service by the new executive members of Eku Progress Union at First Baptist Church Eku to commit the new executive into God’s hands.
