By Prisca Ogbo
Engr. Goodnews Agbi, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on Project Monitoring and Audit, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the ongoing Kwale-Beneku link road project across the Ase River, which connects Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East.
Engr. Agbi expressed his disappointment on Wednesday, when he embarked on a tour where he inspected different road projects in Ndokwa, Burutu and Patani LGA, Delta state.
He criticized the contractors for laying asphalt directly on sharp sand without a stone base, deeming it poorly executed. He instructed the contractors to remove the sand from the culvert and place a stone base before continuing with the asphalt.
In response, the contractor however promised to correct the abnormalities immediately by rectifying the affected areas. He indicated that, the project would be completed within three weeks.
Engr. Agbi also inspected other major projects, including the 1.7-kilometer Tuomo internal road in Burutu LGA, which has been delayed due to funding issues.
The contractor overseeing the Tuomo road project, appealed for more funds to enable his company complete the job in due time, stressing that the project was essential considering the fact that the projects are sited on major parts of the community.
He assured the contractors that their request for a funding review would be considered, emphasizing the road’s importance to the community.
Additionally, the completed 550-meter Aghogho road in Patani LGA was inspected, where Dr. Agbi expressed satisfaction with the work and commended the quality of the project.
