ADC Backs Ogboru for 2027, Cites Leadership, Administrative Competence to Transform Delta

The Delta State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its full support for the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, describing him as the only candidate with the leadership qualities and administrative competence required to transform Delta State.

The party’s endorsement, which was disclosed by the Delta State Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Mr. Fred Akpewe said that as preparations for the 2027 governorship election gather momentum, Deltans are increasingly looking beyond political rhetoric and focusing on the qualities that define effective leadership.

According to Akpewe, effective leadership is built on four key pillars—competence, character, courage, and charisma—which he said Ogboru has consistently demonstrated throughout his personal business and political life.

Speaking on competence, Akpewe described Ogboru as a successful entrepreneur and administrator who has built thriving businesses, created employment opportunities, and managed complex organisations over several decades. He noted that these experiences have equipped him with the managerial capacity needed to improve governance, strengthen public institutions and drive sustainable economic development in Delta State.

On character, the ADC spokesman said integrity and consistency remain essential qualities in leadership, adding that Ogboru has remained steadfast in his political convictions despite electoral setbacks and changing political realities. He said the party believes this resilience reflects a leader guided by principles rather than political convenience.

Akpewe also highlighted courage as one of Ogboru’s defining attributes, noting that he has repeatedly challenged entrenched political structures and continued to contest elections despite formidable odds. According to him, such determination demonstrates a willingness to stand firm in pursuit of a better future for Delta State.
On charisma, he said

Ogboru has maintained a loyal support base across the three senatorial districts and among the diverse ethnic nationalities in the state. He added that his ability to connect with people, communicate a clear vision and inspire hope has remained one of his greatest political strengths.

The ADC spokesman further described Ogboru as a man of admirable character whose humility, kindness and ability to build relationships have endeared him to many across the state.

He argued that Delta, with its diverse ethnic composition, requires a detribalised leader capable of uniting the people and ensuring inclusive governance.
Akpewe also pointed to Ogboru’s family background, saying it reflects the unity and diversity of Delta State.

According to him, Ogboru’s father was of Urhobo extraction, his mother hailed from Umukwata in Delta North, while his wife of over four decades is from the Ijaw ethnic nationality in Delta South. He said this multicultural background gives the ADC governorship candidate a unique understanding of the aspirations of the state’s various ethnic groups.

He maintained that as Deltans assess those seeking to occupy Government House in 2027, they should pay close attention not only to campaign promises but also to the personal qualities and leadership capacity of the candidates.

Akpewe expressed confidence that Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru possesses the competence, character, courage and charisma needed to provide purposeful, inclusive and result-oriented leadership capable of repositioning Delta State for sustainable growth and development.
