Udu, June 23, 2024 – Hon. Potential Ukonhon, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Udu DSIEC Ward 5, has stated that his administration will prioritize human capital development and critical infrastructure projects to improve the lives of residents in Okpaka and Opete communities.

During a recent event in Okpaka where he received the PDP party flag from Udu PDP Chairman Rt. Hon. David Siloko, Ukonhon outlined his vision for the ward. “Our administration will focus on the training and retraining of youths to enable them to live a meaningful lives,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of human capital development.

In addition to investing in the community’s human resources, Ukonhon highlighted several urgent infrastructure needs. “There are no healthcare facilities in Okpaka, and Opete lacks a secondary school. The road leading to Okpaka is in deplorable condition, causing significant movement restrictions during the rainy season,” he noted. Ukonhon promised to bring these issues to the attention of the state government and advocate for necessary improvements.

Recognizing Okpaka and Opete as the industrial base of Udu, with numerous companies generating significant revenue for the local government council, Ukonhon called on the government to reciprocate by developing the area.

Ukonhon expressed his intent to collaborate closely with Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and incoming Udu LGC Chairman Olorogun Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode. He praised both leaders for their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to developing Udu among Delta State’s 25 local government areas.

Concluding his address, Ukonhon urged the residents of Okpaka and Opete to support the PDP, assuring them that the party has the capability to drive sustainable development and provide essential social amenities such as good roads and potable water. He also appealed to opposition party members to join the PDP to fully realize the benefits of democracy.

“The PDP can bridge the gap between the people and the government, ensuring that our communities enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he affirmed.
