Kwode Hails Waive Over Motion On Agbor Train Tragedy.
By Henry Ubus.
The Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Deacon Matthew Kwode, JP, has commended the member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon. Rev. Francis Waive describing him as a proactive and people-oriented lawmaker.
Deacon Kwode gave the commendation while reacting to a motion of urgent public importance moved by Hon. Waive during plenary on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, on the need for the House of Representatives to investigate the fatal train accident that occurred on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Agbor on the Warri-Itakpe rail corridor.
According to Kwode, the successful adoption of the motion by the House demonstrates Hon. Waive’s commitment to the welfare and safety of his constituents and Nigerians at large.
He noted that the federal lawmaker’s swift intervention following the tragic incident, which reportedly claimed lives and left several passengers injured, reflects his responsiveness to matters affecting the people he represents.
Kwode particularly praised the prayers contained in the motion, which included a commendation of the Delta State Government for its prompt response in rescuing victims and ensuring that the injured received medical treatment.
The motion also called on the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and make its findings public, including measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
Furthermore, Hon. Waive urged the NRC to compensate all passengers involved in the trip for losses incurred and inconveniences suffered as a result of the accident.
Another key aspect of the motion was the mandate given to the House Committee on Land Transport and Legislative Compliance to ensure compliance with the resolutions and report back to the House within four weeks for further legislative action.
The motion also called for a minute’s silence to honour those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
Deacon Kwode said the lawmaker’s intervention has further reinforced public confidence in his representation, adding that Hon. Waive has consistently demonstrated concern for the wellbeing of his constituents and the development of the federal constituency.
He therefore called on people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, as well as supporters of the Renewed Hope agenda to continue to support Hon. Waive and vote massively for him come 2027 has he continued to show dedication to public service and the protection of the people’s interests.
