Godspower Omafuvwe, Family Return Thanks to God At 7th Annual Praise Day in Delta

The Chairman, Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu , JP, alongside his family, political associates, friends, community leaders and members, on Thursday, January 1, 2026, gathered at his country home in Uduophori Town, Patani Local Government Area of Delta State, to offer heartfelt gratitude to God for His mercy, kindness and abundant blessings over their lives.

The annual spiritual programme, “Omafuvwe’s Family Praise and Thanksgiving Day,” was conceived and initiated seven years ago by Chief and Chief Deaconess Mrs. Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu, JP, as a platform to publicly acknowledge God for His unfailing grace and benefits upon the family. Since its inception, the programme has been consistently observed on the first day of every new year.

The 2026 edition, which marked the 7th anniversary, was held under the theme “Emmanuel: God Is With Us.” It drew together family members, political associates, Christian bodies, friends and well-wishers from within and outside the community.

While welcoming guests to the event, Chief Asiuwhu expressed profound appreciation to all who came to rejoice with his family in praising God, whom he described as the source of his strength, protection and blessings. He testified to God’s unfailing mercy and favour in his life, noting that all he has become is purely by divine grace.

Quoting Romans 9:16, he said, “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy,” stressing that the thanksgiving was a token of gratitude to God for His wonderful works in his life and family.

Delivering the sermon, the guest minister, Pastor Deborah Sam-Nwakanma, anchored her message on Matthew 1:23 and Philippians 1:6. She spoke extensively on the significance of God’s presence in a man’s life, explaining that it guarantees divine protection, uncommon privileges, unmerited favour, supernatural progress and peace.

She also emphasized the depth of Christ’s love and His desire to dwell among men, encouraging believers to remain steadfast in faith and gratitude. The sermon concluded with intercessory and prophetic prayers for the Omafuvwe family, the Delta State Government and all guests present.

Highlights of the colourful event included a drama presentation depicting the might and faithfulness of God, spirited praise dances, special musical ministrations, community presentations, gift presentations and goodwill messages from friends and associates.
The celebration ended on a joyful note, as guests were treated to sumptuous meals and assorted drinks in an atmosphere of love and merriment.

The host family wished everyone a Happy New Year 2026, expressing optimism to reconvene for another glorious edition in 2027, if Jesus tarries.
