NYCN Delta Chapter Calls For Peace, Unity In Warri
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, has expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday in Warri South Local Government Area, which led to the tragic loss of life and left several others injured.
The State Chairman of the council, Comrade Sagboje Odiri Milton CLN, reacting to reports of the crisis, described the development as “tragic, regrettable, and a setback to peaceful coexistence.”
He condemned the violence in strong terms, stressing that no meaningful progress can be achieved without peace.
“I was deeply shocked when I received news of this ugly incident. It is a sad day for our people, and my heart goes out to the family of the deceased and all those affected. We must understand that without peace, no meaningful development can come. We should be our brothers’ keeper because peace is priceless.”
He further called on the youth of the area to embrace dialogue and reconciliation while calling for the intervention of traditional rulers, security agencies, and the Delta State Government to forestall further escalation.
He reaffirmed NYCN commitment to peace building initiatives across the state and stressed that youths must play a leading role in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence in their domain. “We can not afford to destroy ourselves with hatred and violence because he future belongs to us, the youths, and we must build it on the solid foundation of peace, love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.”
He added that the NYCN Delta State Chapter sympathize with all affected families and calls on every stakeholder to work towards restoring lasting peace in Warri and across Delta State.
