Following the current fuel scarcity resulting from the disagreement between NUPENG and Dangote Refinery which effect has further deepen hardship amongst Nigerians, the Nigerian Youth Organisation has raised alarm demanding immediate intervention of the federal government to restore peace among stakeholders in the petroleum union.

Dr. Gometi .O. Crested, the Vice President, Representing South-South Zone of the Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO) made this statement and made available to newsmen in Warri, Delta State.

He stressed that Nigerians are currently bleeding, especially the youths who are not prepared for further unregulated policies that will further hardship on the masses.

He noted that Nigeria is currently in its worst and frustrating state in the history of democracy due to unfriendly policies in the petroleum sector where poor Nigerians now indirectly subsidized for the Government in mist of unregulated exchange rates.

“Nigeria is our father land, we have no place to go hence we would do everything possible to resist dehumanizing conducts by agencies or stakeholders that are irrational in approach.
We therefore give agencies, especially NUPENG and other unions involved in the current fuel scarcity 24hours to reverse and return the operation to it normal state. Dangote has invested heavily in the Nigerian market, especially in the petroleum industry and should not be frustrated out of business. We expect every union to prioritize the corporate interest of the Nation, especially when it has to do with the masses.”

Dr. Crested categorically stated that they won’t support any attempt by any union directed towards choking investors out of business, most especially now that we are working hard to position Nigeria in an enviable state for local and foreign investors. As stated above, we won’t accommodate further hardship for the masses.

“May I also use this opportunity to seek the Federal government attention to review the proposed 5% Vat on Nigerians, we are not prepared to accommodate it and we won’t go back on our words.”
