In a charged atmosphere filled with resounding chants of support, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Udu Branch “A”, have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. (Chief/Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and the Udu Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Vincent Oyibode JP FCIA.
The declaration came during the union’s enlarged monthly meeting held this week in commemoration of May 29th—Democracy Day and Governor Oborevwori’s two years in office. The meeting, chaired by Comr. (Hon.) Festus Oghenesuvwetoba, witnessed massive turnout and solidarity among members.
Speaking at the event, Comr. Festus praised Governor Oborevwori for faithfully implementing the M.O.R.E Agenda, which he described as transformative and impactful across Delta State. He noted that the Governor’s efforts have been visibly felt in Udu through the strategic leadership of Hon. Vincent Oyibode, who has championed peace, equitable distribution of democratic dividends, and grassroots development.
“The Ofuerare himself—Chief Vincent Oyibode—has continued to ensure peace among Udu communities and that development reaches every part of the council fairly,” Festus stated.
He highlighted key achievements of the Oborevwori-led administration, including massive road dualization, bridge construction, educational improvements, health sector revitalization, and a growing sustainable economy. He emphasized the relevance of these projects to transport workers and the general public, describing them as “a great relief for all road users.”
Festus further called on union members and the public to continue their unwavering support for both Governor Oborevwori and Hon. Oyibode.
“Sheriff and Oyibode have given so much to the people. It is only right that we support them to continue their good works come 2027. Sheriff understands our pain more than anyone else, and he will never disappoint us,” he declared.
Assuring the public of inclusion, he added, “The Ukodo will go round by God’s grace. I trust our Council Chairman will ensure no community in Udu is left behind.”
He charged the union’s media team, led by Comr. Ibru O. Whiliki, to ensure that the union’s resolution is widely publicized and encouraged all Deltans to join in the support of the “workaholic Governor” and his committed council chairman.
