You can’t participate in INEC’s ongoing Voter registration, Gbaramatu Kingdom tells eligible voters.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria, the Spokesman of Gbaramatu Kingdom, High Chief Godspower Gbenekama on Sunday said eligible voters from Gbaramatu Kingdom cannot participate in the ongoing voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC going the Supreme Court’s judgment on the delineation exercise of the Warri Federal Constituency.
High Chief Gbenekama said this in an interview with Our Correspondent in Warri.
He said,”by the Court judgment, there are no wards, there are no polling units.
“So, if INEC is telling us to and register, asking young men and women that are of age to the continous voter registration, we don’t know which polling units or wards they’re registering on.”
According to High Chief Gbenekama,”So, we have told our wards that are of age to vote that they cannot register because by the Court judgment,no wards or polling units as at now, exists.
“So, you cannot put something on nothing. Registering means, we are putting something on nothing.”
High Chief Gbenekama maintained,”Right now, there’s nothing like voting structure in the Warri Federal Constituency.
“So, we don’t know where we are registering that’s why we went on a friendly protest to INEC.
“INEC, complete the Supreme Court directed delineation that you have started. Complete it so that our wards can know where they’re registering. Even those of us that have registered, we need to know where we will begin to vote. The issue is not whether we want to vote. Yes! We want to vote but we don’t know where we are going to vote.
“As at now, there’s no polling units, there are no wards by the Court’s pronouncement and as law abiding citizens, we want to obey the law. That’s why we are telling the Ijaws, Urhobos and even the Itsekiris if they want to do the right thing, the Federal Government or the INEC should ensure that the right thing is done, complete the process so that everybody can participate.”
